After School Creativity: children's art workshops in Dartington until Christmas
After School Creativity is a series of painting workshops for children aged 4+ at Designs Café, Cider Press Centre, Dartington, near Totnes. Sessions run from 21 October to 23 December 2026, mostly on Wednesdays from 4:00pm to 5:30pm, and cost £10–£18 including a hot drink. Book a place in advance.

All sessions run from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. There are no sessions on Wednesday 7 and 14 October or Wednesday 4 November.
What Halloween activities for children are there near Totnes?
Halloween Trick or Treat Bag Painting — Wednesday 21 and Wednesday 28 October, £15. Children decorate their own tote bag with fabric paint, ready to carry on Halloween night. The price includes the bag, fabric paint, the studio charge and a children's hot chocolate.
Halloween Pumpkin Painting — Saturday 31 October, £10. Spend Halloween afternoon painting a pumpkin, with a babyccino or hot chocolate at the table.
Is there anything for children in the October half term?
Yes. Devon's October half term is 26–30 October 2026. Trick or Treat Bag Painting runs on Wednesday 28 October, in the middle of half term, and Pumpkin Painting is on Saturday 31 October, the day after it ends.
What Christmas activities for children are on in Dartington?
Christmas Bauble Painting & Hot Chocolate — Wednesdays 11, 18 and 25 November, and 2 and 9 December, £15. Children paint their own Christmas bauble over a hot chocolate. The kiln fee is included: we fire the bauble and let you know when it's ready to collect.
Coaster Painting — Wednesday 16 December, £18. Children paint a pair of coasters with their own designs. The price includes both coasters, paint, the studio fee and a children's hot chocolate.
Night Before Christmas Story & Bookmark Painting — Wednesday 23 December, £15. A Night Before Christmas themed story, then bookmark painting with acrylic paint over a hot chocolate. It's the last session of the year, in the first week of the Christmas holidays (Devon schools break up on Friday 18 December).
What age are the workshops for?
Children aged 4 and over. No experience is needed — each session is about having a go and taking home something they made themselves.
How do I book a place?
Each workshop has its own page with a "Book your place" button, and places are paid in advance. Every date is listed together on our Workshops page under After School Creativity.
When will a painted bauble be ready to collect?
Pieces that go in the kiln are glazed and fired after the session and are ready to collect within two weeks — we let you know when. If a bauble is a Christmas present, the Wednesday sessions up to 9 December leave time for firing before Christmas.
Where is Designs Café and where do I park?
Designs Café is at Unit 3A, Cider Press Centre, Shinner's Bridge, Dartington, Totnes TQ9 6TQ — five minutes by car from Totnes in South Devon. The Cider Press Centre car park is free for the first two hours, and there is a step-free way in. Grown-ups can have a speciality coffee and cake in the café. Questions?
