Give someone an afternoon of painting their own pottery. A Designs Café gift card can be spent on pottery painting, our creative workshops and events, studio time and materials, and the handmade gifts and homeware in our shop at the Cider Press Centre in Dartington, near Totnes in South Devon.
How much are Designs Café gift cards?
Gift cards come in six amounts: £20, £30, £40, £50, £75 and £100. You buy them online as an e-gift card, and they are redeemed at the café.
As a guide to what an amount covers: pottery pieces cost £7 to £50+, plus a £5 studio fee per piece that covers the paints, brushes, glazing and firing. So a £20 card covers any piece up to £15 together with its studio fee.
What can the gift card be used for?
Pottery painting sessions — choose a piece from the shelves, paint it at your own pace (sessions are about two hours) and collect it glazed and fired within two weeks.
Creative workshops and events — for example the fortnightly Watercolour Club, Ceramic Bubble Painting Masterclasses and the seasonal workshops for children. See what's on at /workshops.

Is it a good Christmas or Mother's Day present?
Yes, and it solves the timing problem: a painted piece needs up to two weeks to be glazed and fired before it can be collected, but a gift card can be given on the day and used afterwards. It suits birthdays and thank-yous too, and anyone who would enjoy a relaxed creative morning with a speciality coffee from Voyager Coffee and a cake from Exploding Bakery while they paint.
How does the person use it?
They come to Designs Café during opening hours — walk-ins are welcome when there is space — or book a workshop. Groups of more than six should email info@designscafe.uk first.
Where is Designs Café, and when is it open?
Unit 3A, Cider Press Centre, Shinner's Bridge, Dartington, Totnes TQ9 6TQ — five minutes by car from Totnes. The Cider Press Centre car park is free for the first two hours, and there is a step-free route in.
Open Tuesday to Thursday and Saturday 9am–4pm, Friday 9am–5pm, Sunday 10am–4pm; closed on Mondays.
